Browns’ Loss Points to a Dire Need for a Coaching Staff Overhaul

We all know it

Talent.

I swear, this Browns team actually has it. For the first time in a long time that is not the issue. Quarterback Baker Mayfield was slinging it today (23/34 for 215 and two TDs) and Jarvis Landry/David Njoku were catching it (10/97 & 4/52). Nick Chubb was solid out of the backfield (18/80 and a TD) after the trade of Carlos Hyde last week.

The defense forced four turnovers, four sacks and a safety, as well.

Frankly, it was the 14 penalties for 114 yards, a couple fumbles lost and mind-boggling decisions by the coaching staff that were the reason why the Browns lost today and why their road losing streak of multiple years continues.

Would you rather have the problem of a lack of talent or a terrible coaching staff to choose from? I honestly think that the Browns have been in almost every game this season and the coaching staff has destroyed their chances of winning most of the games, thus the 2-4-1 record through seven games. It could be 5-2, honestly.

Through his first two seasons, Head Coach Hue Jackson had won only a single game. He surprisingly got a third season and the countless mistakes made week in and out are so hard to watch. At some point in time Owner Jimmy Haslam & GM John Dorsey have to see the lack of competence from the head coach, offensive & defensive coordinators. Everyone needs to go and it should be up to others to replace them.

The last thing we want here in Cleveland is for the coaching staff to ruin QB Baker Mayfield and company like so many quarterbacks in the past have been destroyed by their coaches.

Next week, the Browns find themselves in Pittsburgh for their second matchup of the season against the Steelers. I have a feeling that Hue will still be prowling the Cleveland sideline at Heinz Field. Unfortunately, they will not pull the trigger yet like they need to do so and axe Hue on out of here.

I cannot take many more games where it is clear mental mistakes that are the reason why the team ends up losing games. No longer is it just being outmatched by opposing talent. It is sad and this fan base deserves better after all of these atrocious years. I hope to see a more complete showing against Pittsburgh. I doubt it won’t be filled with mistakes, though.
