1) The NFC East is pathetic
First, it was the Cowboys being dominated by the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving, and on Sunday, the Eagles getting abused by the Miami Dolphins! The Cowboys and the Eagles at the start of the season were both considered possible Super Bowl teams, but right now they resemble two bad teams in a bad division trying to win that pathetic crown, only to be beaten at home by a Wild Card team.
This was a throwback football game with something you rarely see nowadays, blocking and tackling. These two teams played big boy football and showed fans what the game is supposed to be like. Swirling winds and rain left little vertical passing for either team so they just settled on getting into a fistfight instead. And what a FIGHT! The Ravens won on a long last-second field goal, but who is the best team out of the two has not been settled yet, but it may be in early February!
The Browns had seem to have righted the ship recently, albeit against less than stellar competition, so what happened? In typical Browns fashion, they got beat by a duck! The Steelers are by no means a good team and the talent level when comparing these two teams is miles apart in the Browns favor. But the advantage the Steelers have is both mental and physical and that difference is huge! The Browns think they can beat the Steelers, while the Steelers KNOW they can beat the Browns. The Steelers kept their playoff hopes alive on Sunday by enforcing their will on the Browns, nothing less, nothing more. Freddie Kitchens has a soft team and at the end of this season, it will cost him his job.
The future Hall of Fame kicker missed three field Goals on Sunday but he was not the only cause of loss for the Colts. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett missed open receivers and the Colts generally did not play well. They have excuses such as injuries, but after a while you just have to figure out how to win. With the Colts it may just be too late for this season.
The Panthers didn’t just lose to the Redskins, they blew a 14-0 lead and it seems time will be growing short for Rivera. The Redskins won this game behind a dynamic run game led by Derrius Guice that was just too much for the Panthers to handle. Rivera was on shaky ground at the start of the season and that ground seems to be about to swallow him up.
Foles was benched at halftime following three first-half turnovers as the Jags watched what was left dissipate into thin air Sunday afternoon. Jacksonville paid a lot of money to get Foles and they have to be questioning that move as of now.
The Raiders looked like a contender a few weeks back but ever since then they have been what we thought they were going to be this year, and that’s a bad football team. It is a testament to Head Coach John Gruden that the raiders were even in a position to play a meaningful game this late in the year. It is also a testament to how bad the Raiders are that they are in the playoff race in the first place.
