1) The best team won
No question here anymore, the Bucs were better in the trenches on both sides of the ball and they were far superior in physicality and those are the things that win football games at any level.
In a word, Brady is special, not just the ten Super Bowl appearances and seven titles, no it’s much more than that. He is 43 years old and outplayed the supposed new face of the NFL Patrick Mahomes and it wasn’t even close. He has won a Super Bowl out of each conference and he won them in places that really had no expectations to win a Super Bowl until Brady arrived. On top of that this is not a number one draft pick either, he was an afterthought in the draft, and that makes what he has done even that more special.
Put this Super Bowl scheme up there with Bill Belichick’s schemes in Super Bowls 25 and 36. He actually held maybe the most explosive offense we have ever seen to zero touchdowns.
The Bucs offensive line controlled and manhandled the Kansas City defensive line and it seemed like Brady was never under any pressure. The Bucs defense was just as dominant and maybe even more dominant than the offensive line as JPP and Shaq Barrett were seemingly in the backfield as soon as the ball was snapped. Vita Vea and Ndamukong Suh got a huge push up the middle also, and Mahomes had nowhere to go.
Devin White was all over the field, and he really looks like a missile that is being launched on every play. Next to him you have Lavonte David who is just an all-around stud against the run and in pass coverage.
Outside of not having any answers to what the Bucs were doing to them maybe the worst part for the Chiefs was how easily they lost their composure early on and never seemed to regain it. The Chiefs should have run the ball more. I know they lost their two starting tackles, but after watching the game do you really think it would have made that much of a difference?
This team peaked at the right time of the year and remember they didn’t have the normal prep coming into the season. If Brady doesn’t show his age next year the sky could be the limit for this team again.
