Are you a fan of just one team in each sport? Do you root for several teams in each sport? When it comes to the high school game do you just follow your team?
For me when it comes to the NFL it’s always has been Dallas first. I can pretty much watch anyone besides Pittsburgh and San Francisco play. With horrible games on local TV, I usually find myself watch the NFL online. With baseball, it’s Cleveland first and every other team next. Like the NFL there are two teams I refuse to watch and that is the Yankees and the Braves. I enjoy the minor league baseball game over the major league and I go as far as paying for the MILB package online, so I can watch a lot of games. When it comes to hockey it’s always has been the L.A. Kings for me, but it’s hard to watch them being they are seldom on TV and when they are the game starts too late for me to be able to watch it all, when I am on first shift. When it comes to the NBA, I seldom watch because to me it is closer to the WWE than it is true basketball with the way the refs call the game. As far as my team goes it has always been the Lakers and that is because my mom went to school with the great Jerry West. College ball the Buckeyes come first and then I find myself watching anything but the SEC. College basketball might be my favorite sport to watch either on TV or online, of course, it’s the Buckeyes first and then it is the mid-major conference next. I will watch South Dakota state and San Francisco as often as I can. Now, my all-time favorite sport to go to in-person is high school football. I can watch any game or any school and find a reason to enjoy it. I have gone to 13 different states to watch a game. I really prefer smaller schools best. Give me a Newark Catholic or Paint Valley game any day over any big-time school.
When watching a game do you always pick a team to root for if your team is not playing? Or do you just watch the game when your team is playing? Some fans will only watch the bigger schools play when it comes to college or high school and a lot of times I have heard them say it does not matter who wins. Other times they have to have a rooting interest in the game to watch. For me, with the exception of when Paint Valley plays against Newark Catholic, I always have to pick a team to root for. Even when I am watching the little league world series.
What made you choose your favorite teams. Was it location, or maybe your dad or mom rooted for a team and you just grew up rooting for that same team. Some change teams as often as one might change underwear. I never have understood those fans but can’t downgrade them for the way they root. For me, I have always rooted for the Indians, Reds, Cowboys, Lakers, Kings, and the Buckeyes.
No matter why you are the type of fan you are I think we can all agree sports can bring the world together for a short time.
Keep rooting for your team or teams and never let another tell you that your way is the wrong way.
