10) Oregon Ducks
Quarterback Justin Herbert threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns, while Cyrus Habibi-Likio rushed for three more. Oregon beat Colorado 45-3 on Friday night for its fifth straight victory. Colorado is a solid team that the Ducks absolutely manhandled and the most impressive part of this whole game is the Ducks were a much more balanced attack than they had been at the start of the season.
This was a catastrophic home loss to a team with a losing record. It is hard to see the Bulldogs recovering from this. Quarterback Jake Fromm was bad and the coaching by Kirby Smart still leaves a lot to be desired.
The Irish struggled to a 30-27 home when over a depleted USC team, and if the Irish expect to get back in the race for a college football playoff spot they better look a lot more impressive than this the rest of the season.
Once again the Lions were impressive and this time it was against a ranked Iowa team on the road. The key to winning a championship, as we all know, is on the defensive side of the ball and nobody so far this season has been better on defense than the Nittany Lions.
The badgers were dominant on both sides of the ball against Michigan State and actually dominated the Spartans more than Ohio State did. Running Back Jonathan Taylor is becoming a serious Heisman threat.
Jalen Hurts, who is one of the front runners for the Heisman trophy, threw three touchdown passes to CeeDee Lamb after two big mistakes early. Oklahoma’s defense sacked Sam Ehlinger nine times and the No. 6 Sooners never trailed in a 34-27 victory over 11th-ranked Texas on Saturday. The most interesting thing about the Sooners may just be an ever-improving defense that is making them look more and more like serious National Title contenders.
The Tigers have had doubters lining up over the past few weeks and on Saturday they quieted a lot of them, at least for now as quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdown passes, two to Justyn Ross. Clemson pounded Florida State 45-14 on Saturday to extend its program record with its 21st-straight victory.
Joe Burrow passed for 293 yards and three touchdowns, and fifth-ranked LSU scored three-straight touchdowns after falling behind early in the second half to emerge with a 42-28 victory over No. 7 Florida on Saturday night. The most impressive part would have to be the over 500 yards of total offense that the Tigers accumulated against a Florida defense that is considered one of the best in the country.
The Buckeyes had a bye week before getting into the meat of there schedule. The next month will be very interesting for one of the most talented teams in the nation.
The Tide are starting to roll as Tua Tagovailoa threw four touchdowns to smash a school career record. The No. 1 Alabama’s offense kept rolling along behind his powerful left arm with a 47-28 victory over No. 24 Texas A&M on Saturday.
