SEC Power Rankings after week 7

The top 2 are unquestioned!

14) Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt almost beat South Carolina; almost is not a good word when you are talking about winning. However, Vanderbilt’s best chance to succeed in the SEC was against South Carolina, and they let it get away.

13) South Carolina Gamecocks

A one-point win over Vanderbilt doesn’t mean much. The Gamecocks have a multitude of issues and question marks surrounding this team.

12) Missouri Tigers

The Tigers defense has been bad, but a winnable game lies ahead for them as they play Vanderbilt next after a bye week.

11) Mississippi State Bulldogs

Alabama was pissed off; I know that! , But, still, to get beat 49-9 at home is embarrassing. This weekend the Bulldogs should get to feel better about themselves as they face Vanderbilt.

10) Florida Gators

Head Coach Dan Mullen’s seat is starting to get very hot! Just a few weeks ago, the Gators looked to be a top ten team. Then the Alabama loss came, and the Gators have never seemed to recover from it. A 49-42 loss to LSU is just unacceptable from this team, especially when you realize that the Tigers won because of their ability to run the ball. LSU hasn’t run the ball at all this year but somehow gave up over 300 yards on the ground last Saturday.

9) Tennessee Volunteers

The Vols almost upset 13th ranked Ole Miss, but they came up just short on the scoreboard, then things got ugly. The horror will continue for Tennessee as up next will be Alabama.

8) Arkansas Razorbacks

After a brilliant 4-0 start to the season, things have gone south quickly for the Razorbacks. Without Jalen Catalon, this defense isn’t nearly as scary as it once was. I think this program is still headed in the right direction, but at the moment, there have to be a lot of concerns with this team at this moment.

7) LSU Tigers

Coach O is on the hot seat, Kayshon Boutte, Eli Ricks, Derek Stingley Jr., and a host of other key players all missed the game with an injury.  But even with that all against the Tigers, they won a shootout over the Florida Gators.

6) Auburn Tigers

When Bo Nix is on top of his game, the Tigers are a top 10 team; the results are not good when he is not. However, Auburn has a shot at a great end of the season if Nix could play consistently.

5) Kentucky Wildcats

The SEC’s leading rusher, Chris Rodriguez Jr., was held to 7 yards on seven carries. That’s how good the Georgia Bulldogs are on defense. The Wildcats are a one-dimensional offensive team, and it will be what limits this team. The Cats are still having a remarkable season, but they are not ready to play with the big Dawgs in the SEC just yet.

4) Texas A&M Aggies

As expected, the Aggies rolled over Missouri, the Aggies rushed for 300 yards and dominated the line of scrimmage in the 35-14 win over Missouri.

3) Ole Miss

Ole Miss lacked a pair of crucial receivers, a tight end, and a starting offensive lineman. However, it did not matter to Matt Corral as he threw for 231 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 195 yards as a runner. Corral has to be at the top of the Heisman board right now as he is just willing Ole Miss to victories.

2) Alabama Crimson Tide

Yes, the Tide has returned. Bryce Young looked like a Heisman candidate again, and defensive star Will Anderson had four sacks.

1) Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are the best team in the country, and they are playing without their starting quarterback! The Bulldogs dominated in all three phases of the game, and if you are not looking forward to the Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide, well, then you are not a college football fan!
