10) Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Finally on a big stage, the Irish showed that they are one of the best teams in the nation. Sure they lost, but to come up just six points short in a very hostile environment highlights that this is a tougher squad than Head Coach Brian Kelly’s teams of the past. With a lot of season left to play the Irish are still in the mix for the College Football Playoffs.
The Gators mauled the hapless Volunteers, as was expected. The Gators barely escaped the Bluegrass state last week, so I think it’s just a matter of time before the Gators drop out of the top-10.
The Tigers got a huge road win at Texas A&M and that Iron Bowl at the end of the season is looming larger every day.
After an uncharacteristic off-season last year the Badgers are back with a deadly running game, an accurate quarterback and a big-time defense. Look out Ohio State, the Badgers are coming!
The Sooners were off this weekend and this team has looked like a legitimate title contender this year.
What the Buckeyes did to the Redhawks of Miami on Saturday should be illegal! 76-5, and that’s after a 42-0 win over Cincinnati. This means that the Buckeyes are the best team in the state of Ohio but they have much bigger fish to fry in the near future.
Georgia got a huge home win over a tough Notre Dame team on Saturday and athletically they are as good as it gets on defense. Throw in a big-time quarterback and a dominant offensive line and you have a team that should be in the mix until the end of the season.
Believe it or not the Tigers have a quarterback who is a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate and a team capable of beating Alabama.
Let me be honest here, for all intents and purposes the schedule that the Tide has played compared to everybody else means they should be ranked no higher than 5th or 6th. The schedule has been nowhere as tough as the other teams in this top-10 list. But it is Bama.
The question in Clemson is when will everything start to click? It hasn’t yet but when it does look out for the Tigers.
