College Football Week 5 Predictions

NCAA predictions

Week 4 saw 8 teams inside of the Associated Press Top-25 lose and a miraculous 32-point shocker of a comeback by UCLA in a wild-west coast after dark special 67-63. Week 5 features several important PAC-12 marquee matchups and a variety of games flying under the radar across the country.

Marquee Matchups

#10 Notre Dame vs. #18 Virginia: The Irish went toe to toe in enemy territory last Saturday night in prime time versus #3 Georgia. Ian Book’s interceptions in the crucial second half of half cost Notre Dame dearly. Upstart Virginia comes in unbeaten and QB Bryce Perkins is a read deal playmaker that could be trouble. A letdown game for the Irish after an emotionally invested loss could creep in mentally. It’s time for Notre Dame to add more carries to the run game. Although the Irish are favored by double digits this will be tougher than expected.

The Pick: Notre Dame 27 Virginia 19

#17 Washington vs. #21 USC: Two weeks ago both of these programs were beaten in games they were supposed to win. What a difference a week makes especially for USC, as the Trojans knocked off Top-10 Utah and the Huskies destroyed a BYU team that beat USC. The triangle theory can’t be trusted but as we do know style matchups do matter. USC is on their third quarterback and we’re not even out of September. Home field advantage and the Huskies defense is the difference-maker enough to secure this ever so important conference win.

The Pick: Washington 30 USC 23

Under The Radar

#15 California vs. ASU: Keeping with this PAC-12 after dark theme of intriguing contest in the west, highly ranked Cal tries to keep their record clean. Can the Sun Devils walk into Berkeley and take the last ‘O’ in the league? Yes, of course, they can but the real question is will they be able to score enough points on that Golden Bears defense with a still somewhat inexperienced quarterback in Jayden Daniels? ASU won a close game at MSU but this time they drop one late in the fourth quarter.

The Pick: California 17 ASU 13

#19 Utah vs. Washington State: Another pair of PAC-12 foes square off in a must-win tilt in order to keep pace with teams jockeying for position come November. The Cougars did the unthinkable submitting 50 points in just under 19 minutes to UCLA. The Utes will obviously focus on controlling the time possession with a pounding rush attack and a stingy defense. Utah has been too consistent at Rice-Eccles Stadium to pick against them.

The Pick: Utah 34 Washington State 27

Saturday Upset Specia

Kentucky travels to South Carolina and gets the win making for a minor upset on the road.

Hardcore Barnburner

#24 Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State: The 4-0 Wildcats travel to face OKST in what Vegas deems a Big-12 hardcore barnburner. The Cowboys gave Texas hell in Week 4 and will be at home with their back against the wall from a threat of dropping to 0-2 in the conference.

BYU vs. Toledo: The Cougars were blown out last week by Washington but BYU tends to play competitive and this should be the same.

Against The Spread

Kansas (yeah I’m drinking the Les Miles Kool-Aid) will definitely lose against to TCU but by less than the 15.5 points.

(Honorable Mention: Western Michigan(2-2) will win but not cover the 17-points to Central Michigan(2-2).

Easy Money

Take it to the window Iowa State will cover as a slight favorite at 3-0 Baylor
