Beating the Spread: Bowl Games edition, Bahamas, Boca Raton, New Mexico, LA, and New Orleans bowl

Best bets on the weekend Bowl games!

Ok, now I’m not too fond of bowl season as it has become pretty much a joke with 6-6 and 7-5 teams littering the games. That doesn’t mean we can’t make it enjoyable by placing bets on the games to make them more critical! Find the best site to bet the bowl games right here legally!

Headed into Bowl season, my record against the spread is 75-55.

Bahamas Bowl: Toledo Rockets (-10, 50) vs Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders

The Toledo Rockets were just a few plays away from a remarkable season as they lost four one-score games, and they gave Notre Dame all they could handle early in the season. Freshman quarterback Dequan Finn ended the regular season on a hot streak, going a combined 44-for-64 for 677 yards, eight touchdowns and no picks in the Rockets’ last three games. The Rockets also have a fantastic defense which should give the Blue Raiders trouble. MTSU is one of those 6-6 teams I was talking about, and they have issues on offense as they are down to their third-string quarterback. With that being said the Blue Raiders match up well against the Rockets and they will at least cover if not win the game outright, the Blue Raiders are more excited to be here than the Rockets are..

Pick MTSU +10

RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl: Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs Appalachian State Mountaineers (-3, 67.5)

I love this matchup, and the big question for App State is, can they start faster than usual? The Hilltoppers start fast and play fast; a slow start for the Mountaineers would be a killer in this game. Western Kentucky quarterback  Bailey Zappe needs four TD passes to tie the all-time FBS single-season mark of 60 (set in 2019 by Joe Burrow). One concern is that WKU has lost both coordinators to other jobs, but the schemes will stay the same, and Zappe will be the difference.

Pick Western Kentucky +3

PUBG Mobile New Mexico Bowl: UTEP Miners vs Fresno State Bulldogs (-11.5, 51)

Typically this is an easy pick as Fresno state is easily the better team in this one. The issues are the loss of the Fresno Head Coach Kalen Deboer and questions around starting quarterback Jake Haener who put his name in the transfer portal and later changed his mind. Will he start for Fresno? Even with those questions surrounding Fresno, the simple fact is that UTEP for manhandled when playing better teams this year.

Pick Fresno State -11.5

Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl presented by Stifel: Utah State Aggies vs Oregon State Beavers (-7, 67.5)

The Jimmy Kimmel bowl? Really! The fact that a bowl game is named after a douche like Jimmy Kimmel proves Bowl games should be done away with! Now to the game, Oregon State loves to run the ball and control the game’s tempo; on the other hand, Utah State has a high paced high octane offense. When you put all of those factors in I, like the Beavers, to win the game, but the point spread worries me: I think the Beavers should be favored by 4 or 5 and 7 is a considerable number.

Pick Utah State +7

R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: No. 23 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (-5, 55) vs Marshall Thundering Herd

This, to me, is the best matchup on this weekend’s slate of games. Marshall enters this matchup ranked 27th in the country in scoring, 12th in passing and is more than capable of testing Louisiana’s terrific defense. Louisiana will be without coach Billy Napier who left for greener pastures in Florida. Marshall running back Rasheen Ali ranks among the nation’s best rushers with 1,241 yards and tied for the national lead with 20 touchdowns on the ground. This pick has excellent value as I think it should be a two or three-point spread.

Pick Marshall +5
