1) The Cincinnati Bearcats can play with anybody
Cincinnati went to a solid East Carolina team and won easily 35-13. The Bearcats are loaded with NFL talent, and that is especially the case on the defensive line and secondary, and on offense they have a big-time quarterback and running back. The Bearcats are a physical football team, and maybe the style points aren’t what people want. Still, after watching Ohio State get physically dominated up front and Alabama needing overtime to beat an Auburn team with a one-legged quarterback, I find it hard to believe the Bearcats can’t play with the best teams in the country.
2) The College overtime rule is a joke
After playing a complete football game and two overtimes, the game becomes a battle of two-point conversion plays. Does this make sense to anybody? I have nothing else to say about this ignorant rule that ruined a great Iron Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

3) Michigan out-toughed Ohio State
, The Wolverines were dominant on both sides of the ball and proved that, at least for this season, they are the better team. The Wolverines ran for close to 300 yards, and the Buckeyes had close to 70 yards rushing. Aidan Hutchinson, for me, was the star of the game as he made C.J. Stroud’s job difficult all day long. Jim Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in the country at any level, and it’s mind-blowing the crap he has taken from Michigan fans; hopefully, that all stops now.
4) The Heisman is up for grabs
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young had a Heisman moment with the 98-yard game-tying drive, but he was well below average for much of the game and Stroud played well but losing by two touchdowns to Michigan doesn’t help. Desmond Ridder is my dark-horse now, and if he can knock it out of the park in the AAC Championship game against a solid Houston team, he has to be in consideration.
5) Notre Dame has a shot at the College Football Playoffs
The Irish were beaten at home by double-digits against Cincinnati, and let’s face it, most people were not expecting much from the Irish anyway but fast-forward a couple of months, and the Irish are in the thick of it. It would be easy to shrug this off and say that the schedule has been easy, and I agree it has, but over the last month, they have dominated average teams, and the way this season has gone, that can get it done. Are they a threat to beat Georgia or Cincinnati? Probably not, but Brian Kelly has done a great job of turning this team into a contender.
6) Do style points matter if you are Alabama
It seemed to last week, will it this week? Let’s face it at the end of the day, the Tide faced a .500 team and was lucky to survive. They were playing a team that was playing with a one-legged quarterback for a lot of the second half and overtimes, and they still barely managed to escape. Alabama should be ranked at number 4 this week in the playoff rankings, and if they don’t step it up, Georgia will run over the following Saturday.
7) Auburn should have gone for two in the overtime
Auburn cut the lead to one in overtime and decided to go for one and the tie; going for two points would have been the correct play for me; why? Auburn had a shot at winning the game right there; the Tigers defense was worn out. Their quarterback was playing on one leg, and they had nothing to lose. It turns out that the Tigers never got a chance to win the game, and they had that chance right then and there, and they should have taken it.
