1) Is it really a rivalry when only one team wins?
You can change the head coach at Ohio State but the thing that does not change is the Buckeyes own Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh. The Wolverines had chances in the first half to make this a game but they were too undisciplined to take advantage of it. Maybe Ohio State should get a new rival, I don’t know maybe Penn State and they can call them the team out East? What I do know is this the rivalry is dead until Jim Harbaugh and Michigan can figure out how to keep up and that does not seem to be happening anytime in the near future.
Alabama and Auburn played what looked like a Big 12 Conference game on Saturday and when the dust had cleared, the Crimson Tide had been effectively eliminated from the College Football Playoffs for the first time ever. Losing a starting quarterback is not what cost the Tide, it was the lack of a defense that did them in.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers and head Coach P.J. Fleck have been one of the best stories of the season, but that story is now over as the Wisconsin Badgers, after a slow start, manhandled the Gophers. Fleck is a great coach but the play-calling was mystifying, to say the least. In the end, the best team won.
Nobody outside of the West Coast knows about them, but if defense win championships the UTES might be able to shock some people if they make the College Playoffs.
Scott Frost has proven he is a really good football coach and he will get things turned around in Lincoln. The only problem is he inherited such a mess it is going to take time and Huskers fans want it all right now. Chill out Nebraska fans, Tom Osborn is not walking through that door again and it will take Frost time to get it back, but he is on the right track.
