2017 NCAA Football Ohio State at Michigan: Preview and Prediction

The series as of late has been dominated by the Buckeyes and Michigan’s lack of offensive production makes it look like the Buckeyes should continue their dominance. But will they? Let’s take a look at this match-up.

Who will be Michigan’s quarterback?

Your guess is as good as mine right now because Brandon Peter’s–who got knocked out of the Wisconsin game–ability to play may be a game-time decision. Wilton Speight, who hasn’t played since late September, is reportedly practicing but in a non-contact capacity. That leaves John O’Korn, who has played poorly this year, as the likely choice. If Peter’s can’t play it could be a long day for the Wolverines against a very good Buckeyes defensive line.

Can J.T.Barrett win 4-straight against Michigan?

No Ohio State quarterback has ever done this but all signs point to Barrett being the first. Last year Barrett beat a ferocious Wolverines defense with his feet, and if the Buckeyes are to win Barrett will probably have to do it with his feet.

Buckeyes have feasted on weak teams

Outside of a win over Penn State the Buckeyes have beaten average teams at best, but mostly weak teams. The question here is Michigan any better than the average teams the Buckeyes have beaten? The answer to this question probably hinges on who is under center for the Wolverines?

Home-field advantage?

Sure Michigan is at home but it’s not like they are unbeatable there. Ohio State on the other hand, played their worst game of the season on the road in Iowa. Unless the Wolverines get off to a fast start I don’t think home-field advantage will be a huge deal in this game.

Michigan is a well-coached team with a very good defense and I think they will take away the Buckeyes passing game and force J.T.Barrett to beat them with his feet, and I think Barrett will do just that.

Buckeyes 27  Wolverines 16
