The news that established brand Proline was making the jump to single event sports betting prompted us to put together this Proline review of what to expect from an upgraded Proline Ontario sportsbook.
We’ll look at what those changes mean, what the Proline Ontario betting platform will consist of, and why either visiting or even re-visiting Proline is a good idea. There’s lots here to cover, so make sure you read every word.
So, is Proline one of the best online gambling sites in Ontario? To start, we’ll be taking a look at the usability and design of the site. This really comes in two parts, so we’ll look at the sportsbook first. This has the standard layout of sports down the left, markets in the middle and your betting slip on the right. This will be well known to experienced users, and easy to work out for beginners.
Next we have Proline casino, which is accessible from the same site but has the branding of The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, who run Proline. Whether this will stay that way in the long term is unknown, but the layout is every bit as easy to use as the sportsbook.
This is not included on the Proline Ontario app, but as reviews show this app is in need of an upgrade, it might be included as part of that.
Another developing situation is the payment process, Proline only accepts payments from Visa and Mastercard debits and credit cards (preferably issued by a Canadian bank) and Interac. This falls short of what might be available at the best sportsbook in Ontario, although many people will still be able to deposit using these methods.
Of course, having a small number of deposit methods does simplify the withdrawal process, which should take less than 5 business days, which is what you might expect from other sportsbooks and other Ontario online casinos.
Proline is a Canadian operation, so unlike their competitors, there is no Proline NJ phone number to ring. On the other hand, this means that it is focused on the Canadian market, is also available in French, and isn’t trying to juggle a lot of locations at once.
You have an excellent FAQ section that does most of the work, and a simple form to fill in or an onscreen chatbox for slightly bigger issues. While this got a quick response when we tried it, ideally we’d like to see that expanded at little.
When legislation changes, there is always some question about what is legal, especially in Canada with the number of offshore operations that are available.
As this operator is run by The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, there is no question about whether this operator is legit, and they have a history of having ‘best in class’ security to protect customer data and money.
The Proline markets are quite extensive, with the headline sports at the top of the list and a full breakdown below. This list lacks sports that would be covered by the competition like volleyball, but should be a good fit for most Ontario bettors.
This is underlined by the markets available on the sports that are covered with around 140 different ones for one we picked at random.
The odds here seem competitive, but this cannot be fully confirmed due to the limited number of other sportsbooks in Ontario we can compare them to.
The live betting markets are as extensive as the one for ‘regular’ betting, so Ontario bettors will have plenty to choose from. However, this is not the case with the streaming options because there are currently none available. While this is not unusual for sportsbooks (and many people who are enthusiastic enough to bet on a sport will normally have a paid TV subscription to watch it anyway), their competitors will have this facility.
The most that can be placed on any one bet is $20,000, and no bet with a payout of more than $600,000 will be accepted. Players can also set their own limits if they choose, with a very responsible 7 day cooling off period if you want to raise those limits.
Obviously there are plenty of responsible gaming resources available to those that feel they need them.
This sportsbook is not likely to set the world alight, but it could be a perfect fit to new bettors. The site is as straightforward as it gets, and gives you a feeling of reliability that will mean a lot to people who have never placed a bet before.
The quality of games that an online casino has to offer is all important, and with offerings from Everi, IGT, SG Digital, AGS and Blueprint you know that won’t be a problem here.
We picked three at random (as we do at other online casinos) and found no issues with loading or during gameplay. All of which should give FanDuel Ontario online casino some serious competition!
There is an extensive range of slots, including jackpot slots. There are also 8 different types of blackjack, 4 of roulette, and 13 different card games including baccarat and all the variations of poker you might expect. This is enough to keep most players happy, but if you want a more authentic experience, there are also live games.
While you can play demo versions of many of the games listed above, this is not the case with live casino games for obvious reasons. When we checked out the options we found 2 versions of blackjack, another 2 of roulette, baccarat and Texas hold ‘em. This roster covers all of the bases without being overly complicated, which is a plus.
The limits for each game are displayed when you check for more information before playing. For instance, playing live blackjack has a minimum $5 stake and maximum of $1000, and a slot picked at random had a minimum of $0.20 and a maximum of $200. Again, players can set their own limits on their accounts as they can with the sportsbook.
We mentioned in the sportsbook review that this operator gave you a feeling of unspectacular reliability, and that’s what you get here too.
While the Proline sports Ontario app needs work, the rest of the operation seems very reliable, making the Proline Ontario sportsbook and the OLG branded casino worth a look now, or at least keeping an eye on in the future.
