1) Canelo is the best fighter in the world, and he is a throwback
By throwback I mean he is active and tough. It’s not all about the money to Canelo, it’s about being a legend. I think a case can be made that he is at the very worst in the top-five of all-time Mexican fighters. I could even make a that he is number one. People will complain that he is fighting a Yildrim or a Fielding, but why not. He’s fighting three or four times a year and there’s nothing wrong with that.
2) Nobody cares about Demetrius Andrade
Andrade made a fool out of himself at the post-fight press conference. Canelo said thatΒ Andrade has beaten nobody even near Canelo’s level. I can’t of anyone who wants to watch Andrade run around in circles all night while Canelo chases. We all know how that fight would end – with Andrade on the ground looking for his teeth!
It seems that the Andrade’s and the Charlo’s of the world wanna stand in line for a money fight with Canelo without earning it. Guys, you have to make people want to see those fights. Hell why not fight each other? The winner of a Charlo/Andrade fight would have a legit reason to scream for a Canelo fight. Too bad in today’s climate that is unlikely to happen.
I’m a GGG fan and can’t stand Canelo. I think Golovkin beat him Canelo twice. Still, there’s no denying Canelo’s greatness and his commitment to being a legend. Sure I am still pissed that he waited so long to fight G, but look at the competition the man has fought throughout his career. He fights frequently, he’s always in top-flight shape, and he gives the fans their money’s worth. While most other fighters are waiting on fights, Canelo is making them happen.
A broken orbital bone is a serious injury so if you are screaming Billy Joe quit get your fat ass off your mom’s couch and go get a job. It’s OK to think it’s funny that he got stopped much the same way Daniel Dubois did. That’s fine by me. Why? because remember Billy, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, so maybe don’t talk so much. In the end unless you are Muhammad Ali, it always comes back to bite you in the ass.
Mannix was watching an entirely different fight than anyone else. He had Saunders up by 3 points after 7 rounds. My questions are: was he trying to keep everybody interested? Or is he just that clueless? Please don’t get me started on Sergio Mora or for that matter the entire broadcast crew at DAZN, luckily for them, most of the other network announcers are just as bad. Back to Mannix’s scoring, Canelo controlled the fight with effective aggression and with the much harder punches. Saunders landed pity-pat punches that had no effect. Canelo destroyed Saunders body and followed his game plan to a tee. I had the fight 6-2 Canelo. I could see it being as close as 5-3, but 5-2 Saunders? Pitiful.
