Gennady and Saul ‘CANELO’ ALVAREZ finally meet in a historic trilogy that features two of the most outstanding fighters of today’s generation. Canelo will try to retain his four super-middleweight titles, but will Gennady Golovkin step up eight pounds and become the undisputed champion, finally beating the Mexican?
This fight is 50/50 on paper. Each warrior has 24 rounds of brutality together and has a remarkable record. The first round was a draw. The second was a majority vote in favor of the Mexican. So who will win the final round to end this historical boxing rivalry?
Little doubt exists that GGG won the first matchup, while the second fight was much closer. Will Golovkin’s age be the determining factor in this fight? How will Canelo respond from being dominated by Dmitry Bivol?
Golovkin is now 4-0 after the rematch. He won the vacant IBF strap by beating Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Ryoto Murata was his last victim also in a unification bout, earning him the WBA belt.
Gennady is 40 years old. Gennady Golovkin is not a spring chicken, and his skills have declined at least a bit since their last encounter four years ago. Gennady, who is also a professional middleweight, will be fighting this bout at 168. However, Canelo suffered his first loss in a long time, making the trilogy fight even more interesting.

Canelo is now 7-1. He won a middleweight unification fight against Daniel Jacobs. He also won the WBO light-heavyweight belt against Sergey Kovalev. Canelo beat Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders. This made him the undisputed champion of the super middleweight weight class. Canelo lost his latest bout by unanimous decision to Dmitry Bivol, who was fighting for the 175-pound WBA belt.
