Although it may have ended in a draw, there was nothing dull about Mike Tysons’ fight with Roy Jones Jr. The 54-year-old performed way better than anybody would have imagined him to considering he has been out of the ring for 15 years. Many people presumed that both of these guys were just in it for the money and wouldn’t have put on much of a show.

In fact, the match at the Staples Center in Los Angeles was one of the most entertaining events of the year. As 2020 has been a year like no other, Mike Tyson isn’t the only thing that’s made a surprising comeback. Here’s a look back at some of the things that have we may have forgotten that have come out fighting once more.

The workout video

As many of us couldn’t get to the boxing gym, we had to find new ways of keeping fit. If you had the room in your house and if you could actually find some of the much sought-after equipment, you might have been tempted to install your own punchbag in your home or garage. The only problem is they take up a lot of room and in 2020, it seemed everyone else also had the same idea and they were sold out in stores around the world. Instead, many people opted to stream a fitness class online instead. Unlike the tapes your mum used to do in the 90s, these days these videos focus on delivering a high-intensity workout.

Online Bingo

As we were forced to stay at home for a lot of the year, many of us had to find new ways of entertaining ourselves at home. Whilst many of us began the lockdown towards the start of the year watching Netflix and snacking on anything we could get our hands on, we needed some new ideas to keep us entertained for the long run. One of the new ideas many people had was in fact one of the oldest ideas that’s been around for centuries.

Bingo might seem like a slow game for the older generation, but it’s becoming hugely popular with the younger generation as well. The simplicity of the game, where you simply have to mark off numbers as they’re called out, is what’s made this iconic game so enjoyable for people to play around the world. Some of the best bingo sites even allow you to play for real cash prizes, so you’ll have lots of reasons to get excited if you get a full house!

Zoom

Whether it was a work meeting or a catch up with friends, it seems like everything has been done on video conferencing software this year. Some people have even streamed their birthday parties and weddings to friends and family who couldn’t make it. In fact, it seems virtually the only thing you couldn’t do on this platform is a boxing fight. That sport will always be a face to face battle without any social distancing whatsoever.
