More than a month separates us from the new athletic year for Florida State, but some former Seminoles will continue their auditions for their professional teams and preseason prognostications will soon ramp up.

SUMMER LEAGUE RESUMES
Five former FSU basketball players have participated in the NBA Summer League out in Las Vegas. That wraps up on Monday with the final. Consolation games begin on Friday and quarterfinals get underway on Saturday.

Impressing the Los Angeles Clippers so far have been rookies Mfiondu Kabengele and Terance Mann. Kabengele leads the Clippers through three Summer League games in scoring at 17.7 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field to go with a team-high two blocks. Kabengele started Summer League action with 21 points and 10 rebounds in a win over the crosstown Los Angeles Lakers.

Mann is averaging just below nine points per game in three Summer League contests, but leads the team with 11.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest. In a win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, Mann narrowly missed a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists.

So far in Summer League action, the Clippers are 2-1. They’ll face the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night.

The other FSU rookie participating in Summer League action is 7-foot-4 center Christ Koumadje with the Philadelphia 76ers and thus far, he has impressed. Koumadje is averaging seven points, six rebounds and three blocks in three Summer League contests while shooting 69 percent from the field.

After finishing with 11 points, seven rebounds and five blocks in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks in his first Summer League contest, Koumadje followed up a scoreless performance with 10 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. Philadelphia is 1-2 in the Summer League and will face the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday afternoon.

Guard Dwayne Bacon has averaged a team-high 19.5 points per contest in two Summer League games for the Charlotte Hornets. Bacon followed up a 25-point performance in a win over the Golden State Warriors with 14 points in a loss to the San Antonio Spurs. At 1-2, the Hornets will face the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday evening.

In two Summer League games for the Orlando Magic, Braian Angola has averaged seven points and two assists. Angola finished with seven points and two assists in both a win over the San Antonio Spurs and a loss to the Denver Nuggets. The Magic are 1-2 in the Summer League and will face the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday evening.

WATCH LISTS
Beginning Monday, college football will begin releasing its preseason watch lists. Over two work weeks, 16 different watch lists will be unveiled.

Names that could appear on various lists for Florida State include Cam Akers, Tamorrion Terry, Tre’ McKitty, Marvin Wilson, Levonta Taylor, Jaiden Lars-Woodbey, Dontavious Jackson, Ricky Aguayo and Logan Tyler. FSU hasn’t had a player win a major national award since Nick O’Leary took home the John Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end in 2014.

When it comes to lesser awards, running back Dalvin Cook won the Jim Brown Award in 2015. In 2016, cornerback Tarvarus McFadden took home the Jack Tatum Award.
