Excitement is at an all-time high in Minnesota. Off season additions of Jimmy Butler, Jeff Teague and Jamal Crawford has grabbed the nation’s attention. The Timberwolves are now one of the most intriguing teams in the NBA. These are the most intriguing Minnesota Timberwolves games in the 2017-2018 season.

October 18th @ San Antonio Spurs

The season begins with a tough test for the new look Timberwolves. The Spurs have won the last 13 meetings between the two teams but with a revamped roster, the Wolves have a chance to change that. It would be a statement win for a team with high expectations on national TV.
Other matchups: November 15 vs. Spurs, March 17 @ Spurs

October 20th vs. Utah Jazz

The Wolves’ home opener sees the return of Ricky Rubio. Rubio spent his first 5 seasons with Minnesota before being shipped off to Utah the same day the Wolves signed his replacement Jeff Teague. Rubio, who is second in assists in franchise history, will be looking to show his former team that they made a mistake by parting ways with him.
Other matchups: November 13th @ Jazz, March 2nd @ Jazz, April 1st vs. Jazz

October 22nd @ Oklahoma City Thunder

This matchup features the two favorites to win the Midwest division. It will feature two former Eastern Conference super stars looking to prove themselves in the much superior western conference in Paul George and Jimmy Butler. This game could be the beginning of a great rivalry.
Other matchups: October 27th vs. Thunder, December 1st @ Thunder, January 10th vs. Thunder

November 1st @ New Orleans Pelicans

This game is all about the big men. Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins may be the best big man duo since Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Karl Anthony Towns, Taj Gibson, and Gorgi Dieng will have a tough task keeping them at bay. Both point guards will have a chip on their shoulder as Jrue Holiday looks to prove he’s worth max contract and Jeff Teague tries to convince his team they made the right choice choosing him over Ricky Rubio.
Other matchups: November 29th @ Pelicans, January 6th vs Pelicans, February 3rd vs Pelicans

November 8th @ Golden State Warriors

The defending champions are looking to once again dominate a tough Western Conference. The Wolves have lost 5 out their last 6 games in Oakland but handed Golden State one of their 9 losses in the 2015-2016 season. This nationally televised game will feature the Timberwolves taking on the team they aspire to be.
Other matchups: January 25th @ Warriors, March 11th vs. Warriors

November 28th vs Washington Wizards

Target Center fans will get to witness a clash of two young and talented teams. Young forwards Karl Anthony Towns and Otto Porter Jr. is an intriguing matchup along with newly resigned John Wall clashing with former all-star Jeff Teague. Washington is a team that could very easily be a top 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Other matchups: March 13th @ Wizards

December 12th vs Philadelphia 76ers

This could be NBA Finals matchup in the near future. It may be wishful thinking, but both teams are young and talented. So many interesting matchups in this game including Towns vs Joel Embid, Teague v Markelle Fultz and Butler v Ben Simmons. Philadelphia’s young stars have more to prove, but all indications are these two teams are rapidly heading in the right direction.
Other matchups: March 24th @ 76ers

December 28th vs. Milwaukee Bucks

With very few superstars left in the Eastern Conference, Giannis Antetokounmpo stands out. The 6’11” point guard is a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. Alongside him is sharp shooter Tony Snell and up and comer Thon Maker. Timberwolves fans will also be able to see former Cooper high school standout Rashad Vaughn in action.
Other matchups: February 1st vs. Bucks

January 8th vs Cleveland Cavaliers

Whenever Lebron James is on the court, it is must watch television. Andrew Wiggins seems to flourish when he takes on the team that drafted him averaging 29.8 points per game against the Cavs. The Wolves have not defeated Cleveland since Lebron’s return. Kevin Love returns to Minnesota where he became an all-star caliber player.
Other matchups: February 7th @ Cavaliers

January 18th @ Houston Rockets

It’s the battle of two contrasting styles. Houston was first in the NBA in three pointers made last season while the Wolves were dead last in that category. The Timberwolves added veteran Jamal Crawford to help mend that shortcoming. Houston made a splash in the offseason with the addition of Chris Paul.
