Two weeks ago, Boogie Ellis was still committed to Duke and was on track to be a Blue Devil. Ten days ago, he decided to change direction and ask out of his Letter of Intent.

There were reportedly more than a dozen schools that reached out to him once he was back on the market and looking for a new school. And why not? Any roster would benefit from a top 40 guard who can nail shots from downtown at a near 40% clip.

Shortly after he de-committed from Duke, Ellis made a trip to the land of the Delta Blues to check out what Penny Hardaway has been putting together.

A day after Boogie’s visit to Memphis, his future backcourt teammate and fellow sharpshooter Lester Quinones committed to play for the Tigers in the upcoming season.

That is when you started to see domino gifs all over Tigers Twitter.

On Saturday, after a week full of hypness and recruiting news, graduate transfer Rayjon Tucker also committed to the Tigers – should he decide to pull his name out of the draft.

Monday afternoon, when Tiger fans were still unwinding from a vicious episode of Game of Thrones, the next domino fell and Boogie Ellis committed to join the squad from the 901.

All I have to say to Tigers fans is: enjoy this time in Tigers hoops. Things are fun now and we seem to be at the end of a very dark tunnel. Obviously, no games have yet been won. No players have even stepped foot on the court, but the city is abuzz in excitement and that has to count for something – especially in a city who loves basketball as much as Memphis. It is the lifeblood of this town.

A week ago, Coach Hardaway and his staff had three scholarships available. Forward David Wingett transferred and there were four. We look back after just a few short and eventful days and Hardaway is down to a lone scholarship. There are two big names left on the board who Memphis has ties with. Both of them talented big men with NBA potential. These men are Trendon Watford and Precious Achiuwa. It seems more likely that Precious will follow suit of his former AAU teammate Quinones, but in college hoops recruiting, we can never be sure.

Enjoy today and hope that tomorrow the good times keep on rolling.
