With LeBron now out of Cleveland, there are multiple reports that the Cavs are looking to deal Kevin Love. I am all over this for two reasons. The first being I like Kevin Love and I think he deserves to be on a contender as well as he wants to and secondly there is no reason to keep his salary. With this being said, here are some teams and offers that could be thrown out for Love.
Utah: Grayson Allen, 2019 First and 2019 Second
I really like this trade a lot for the Cavs. This not only cuts salary but gives us young pieces to build around. I expect Utah’s pick to be out of the lottery, but the incentive to cut salary is there and that’s what the Cavs are looking for.
Boston: Robert Williams, Aron Baynes and a 2019 Second
This is what an offer from Boston for Love would probably look like considering Boston isn’t looking to dish out a lot of assets with Kawhi Leonard potentially on the table. The Cavs are probably looking to get a first-rounder in exchange, but this trade does have an upside. Robert Williams is a tremendous talent if he can get his act together and gain some responsibility.
Suns: Elie Okobo, Dragan Bender and a 2019 First Top-10 Protected
I could see the Suns being a dark horse in the Love sweepstakes if they feel like their young core is ready to take the next step and make the playoffs. This could be a deal to look into and they have the cap flexibility to take on Love’s contract and still keep their young core intact.
Knicks: Luke Kornet, Trey Burke and a 2019 First Top-Five Protected
This trade doesn’t have the assets that other teams could offer to get Love, but I think going after Love makes sense for NY. Not only is it someone to mentor Porzingis but rumors are showing Kyrie and Jimmy Butler are interested in playing together and this move helps their odds of landing that duo.
Portland: Caleb Swanigan, Zach Collins and 2019 First-Round Pick
After a crushing first-round sweep, the Blazers may be looking to take things to the next level. Kevin Love could provide outside shooting and a pick and roll partner for Dame Lillard. I think this trade makes sense for both teams.
