Somehow, the rich just got richer.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins has signed with the Golden State Warriors. Boogie gives the Warriors five current All-Star players in him, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
Cousins signed for just a one-year deal worth only $5.3M, again showing how great players will take a pay-cut to play for the Warriors due to their success and culture.
Cousins had a strong year last year, averaging 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Pelicans before a season-ending Achilles injury. While he played well in New Orleans, Anthony Davis and the Pelicans played better with him injured and even made a post-season appearance due to a strong second-half of the season.
Even though the Warriors were already the favorite to win the NBA Finals yet again next year, they had been in the spotlight during this free agency period. LeBron, Paul George, and Chris Paul were the most heavily talked about, but Cousins heading to Golden State has seemingly shocked the majority of the NBA world.
