Trade Rumors!

Collin Sexton, Cavaliers’ guard, is one of the most intriguing NBA rumors. Chris Fedor from Cleveland.com reports that the Spurs, Pistons, and Pacers are interested in the fourth-year player. Fedor said that Sexton wants a starting guard salary. This could amount to about $20 million per year. This seems to be a significant demand for players returning from season-ending injuries. Are the Cavaliers willing to match any offer made by the Pacers, Pistons, or Spurs? The guard is a restricted free agent entering this offseason. Sexton was sidelined for most of the 2021-22 season because of a torn meniscus in one knee. The injury occurred on Nov. 7, as the Cavs beat the Knicks 126 to 109 at Madison Square Garden. He is still a top-20 scorer, however.

Sexton averaged 24.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per contest in 60 games during the 2020-21 season. Sexton led the Cavaliers in scoring and ranked 18th among NBA guards for points per game. Some fans may claim that he was only the leader in Cleveland’s points due to their 22-50 record (.306). This is a team that was not great. An above-average player can take over an underperforming team.

But you don’t have to read too profoundly; Garland or Sexton are the Cavs star players. The Cavs would have been among the worst teams in the league this season if Sexton and Garland were not available. With Sexton still healthy, the Cavs might have defeated the Hawks this season in the play-in tournament. Either way, it’s fair. He is a valuable guard.

Sexton also averaged 16 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in the 2021-22 season before his injury. Sexton shot 45% from the floor and 24.4% from downtown.

Collin Sexton is a perfect fit for the Spurs or Pacers

The Spurs are Sexton’s best option if the Cavaliers decline or cannot match this offer. They finished the season with a record of 34-48 (.415) and ranked 10th in the Western Conference standings. Gregg Popovich, the NBA head coach, is one the most respected coaches in NBA history. He is a master at using talent. Dejounte and Devin Vassell could also benefit from his assistance. The West is still more competitive than the East. Check out the top new sportsbooks for betting on the NBA!

Sexton would also be disappointed to see his team move from the Cavaliers towards the Pistons. Cade Cunningham was the top pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and would be a great teammate. The problem is that the Pistons seem to be in a rebuilding phase. Since the 2018-19 season, they have not reached the playoffs. Detroit looks more like a dead-end.

NBA Rumors

If the report is correct, signing with the Pacers would be good. The Pacers had already sent Domantas Sabonis and Jeremy Lamb to the Kings before the NBA trade deadline. They also gave a protected 2023 second-round draft pick to the Kings for Buddy Hield, Tristan Thompson, and Tyrese Haliburton. Indiana would have more depth if Sexton were added to their roster.

Collin Sexton is attempting to secure a contract worth between $18 million and $20 million. This makes it more likely that one of these three teams will pull out. This season, the guard made $6,349671 and didn’t play much. This is a significant increase in salary for a young player returning from significant injuries. He’s only 23 years old. He was drafted eighth by the Cavaliers in the 2018 NBA Draft. You can also find other NBA rumors on our main page.
