This will most likely not happen, but it’s fun to talk about! Here are five reasons why the Cavs should get Melo as his time in Houston has come to an end after only 10 games.
This is a player who has played 15 years in the league and knows a thing or two about the NBA. He can help a guy like our rookie PG Colin Sexton because of his experience.
The Cavs need a guy that can fire it up there without much of a regard for anything else and that is exactly the type of player Melo has always been throughout his career. If he misses, who cares? The Cavs are tanking anyway.
The Cavs need points. They average 103.4 points a night (last in the East) compared to giving up 111.8 for a -8.4 diff. While he is only averaging 13.4 points a night this year, he has averaged 24 for his career. I would expect him to be right in the middle around 17-18 a game if he came to Cleveland. Why not?
It is not like a championship run is on the line like in Houston currently. If Melo is terrible, it helps the tanking cause. If he is great, we win a few more games while still tanking because the rest of the team is bad.
It is hard to find an excuse to watch a Cavs game these days. Adding Carmelo Anthony gives us losers here in Cleveland a reason to flip on the game. He was very, very good at one point in time and maybe he can bring some of that to The Land in place of LBJ!
Make it happen, Cavs! A 5th straight trip to the NBA Finals depends on it…only kidding.
