Memphis: The Memphis Tigers held off a hard fighting UAB Blazer team to hold on to a 94-76 win at home. Memphis had to fight tooth and nail to earn a well-deserved win over bitter rival UAB.
UAB fought hard all game to steal the thunder from the Tigers, but every time the Blazers would gain ground the Tigers would answer with a promising possession on the other end. Both Memphis and UAB shot the ball very well often answering each otherβs three-pointers.
Two players in particular were huge for the Tigers in the win over UAB. Kyvon Davenport and Tyler Harris were huge for Memphis and led the Tigers in just about every stat category that a player could have. Davenport ended the game with 21 points, 8-10 FG, and 3-5 from behind the arc, Tyler Harris also ended the day with 24 points, 5-12 FG, and 4-10 from behind the arc these two played a huge part for the Tigers in the win over UAB.
With the win, Memphis snaps the Blazers three-game winning streak and the Tigers improve to 5-4 on the season, while UAB drops to 6-3.
Memphis with the win got a nice final tune-up before hosting arch-rival Tennessee next Saturday in Memphis. The Tigers will need another performance like today to have a shot at the massive upset over a top 5 Volunteer team.
Memphis and Tennessee will tip-off Saturday at 11a and can be seen on ESPN2.
