These are two teams that are winning in different ways. The Ducks are surviving close games and advancing while Kansas is destroying every team in its path, will this destruction continue? Let’s take a look.
Oregon out-rebounded Michigan, 36-31, and held the Wolverines to only two offensive rebounds. They have to be able to control the boards against the Jayhawks if they want any chance at winning this game. Jordan Bell played a significant role in the victory over Michigan; he pulled down 13 boards, four of which were on the all important offensive glass. Besides hitting the glass, the bulk of the Ducks scoring will have to come from the duo of Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey. It will also be imperative for the Ducks to not send the Jayhawks to the free throw line, Michigan only shot seven free throws in their one-point loss to the Ducks.
The Jayhawks need to score points early off of their transition game, so contesting Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey’s shots will be huge for Kansas and will contribute significantly to the Jayhawks winning this game. If the Jayhawks can get what will amount to a home crowd into the game early it could be lights out early for the Ducks.
For the Ducks to win this game, Brooks and Dorsey will have to both be on, and on top of that, the Ducks must hang on the boards with the Jayhawks. I think that the Jayhawks will have too much firepower for the Ducks, plus a home crowd advantage which will be too much for the Ducks to overcome. Kansas 87 Oregon 79
