UNC point guard Cole Anthony did not disappoint in his ACC debut. The North Carolina Freshman set the Tar Heel record for points in a debut, as he posted a monster 34 points on 12/24 shooting (including 6-11 from 3-point range) along with 11 rebounds and 5 assists. This effort helped propel the Tar Heels to cover the spread in their 76-65 win over Notre Dame at the Dean E. Smith Center on Wednesday night. Most of this effort came in the second half, propelling the Tar Heels to pull away from the Irish as Anthony connected on or assisted several key shots down the stretch.
Anthony was the No. 2 overall High School recruit in the 2019 graduating class. He played basketball at Oak Hill High School. Other key performances in the game came from junior Garrison Brooks (10 points, 9 rebounds) and Armando Bacot (7 points, 8 rebounds). T Gibbs lead the way for the Irish with 19 points on 6-12 shooting, including 4-6 from three.
