The tank is officially on!
Well, starting 0-6 officially put the tank on. Lue had been on the hot seat since last season’s struggles, but the poor start was the final straw. Assistant Coach Larry Drew will serve as interim coach for the rest of the season.
I genuinely believed they’d have a shot at competing for the eight seed in the East this year. Not because I thought their roster had the talent, but because I thought the East would be that bad. From what we’ve seen so far, they’re a contender for the number one overall pick. Doesn’t sound like Dan Gilbert liked that since he talked all offseason about not wanting to tank.
Larry Drew stepped in as interim coach last year when Ty Lue left due to illness. We will see what changes Drew makes now with full control of the team. The Cavs should start shopping trades and fully embrace the tank and try for the number one pick.
