The 2022 Major League Baseball regular baseball season is almost at its halfway point. Many skippers have been fired, but there are still a few managers who have come under fire recently. 5) Derek Shelton – Pittsburgh Pirates
If you look at the National League Central Division Standings, it is easy to see that the Pittsburgh Pirates are a team on the rise.
They currently sit in third place in NL Central and haven’t been there since 2016. The reason the Pirates are in third place is not that they are a respectable organization. The reason the Pirates are third is not because they are a good team. The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs behind them don’t play productive Baseball at all.

The Cincinnati Reds showed promise in the past two seasons, achieving a playoff berth in 2020 and maintaining a respectable record with 83 wins and only 79 losses in 2021. There were signs of optimism heading into the season.
After a terrible start, the Reds were eliminated from playoff contention in the first half of the season. They won only three of 21 games during April. The Reds improved in May when they were at.500 and had a record of 14 victories and 13 losses.
The Reds have won just 8 of the 24 games in June.
Cincinnati now has 25 wins and 47 losses and is 15.5 games behind the National League Central Division-leading Milwaukee Brewers.

3) David Ross – Chicago Cubs
This season, the Cubs have won only 13 of 38 home games. That is unacceptable among Cubs fans. Ross led the Cubs to the 2020 postseason with a record 34-26. The Cubs finished 20 games below.500 at 71–91 and 28-45 in 2022, with a winning percentage of.384.
It shouldn’t surprise Ross that he is among the MLB managers on the hot seat for 2022, with high expectations in Chicago.

2) Bud Black – Colorado Rockies
Bud Black was very successful as the Colorado manager in his two first seasons. They had an overall record of 87-75 and 91-72, respectively, in 2017.
The Rockies are currently at 51 games below.500 in the four previous seasons, with 32 and 42 of those being this year. The Rockies were expected to be lower than the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants in 2022.

Tony LaRussa, 76, was hired on October 29, 2020. This might seem strange, considering he hadn’t managed a Major League team since 2011. The White Sox were expected to be very successful this year. However, they are four games below.500 with 34 wins and 38 losses and are 6.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins in American League Central.
