The Marlins are hot and hanging in with the first-place Atlanta Braves.

8) Houston Astros

The Astros were embarrassed at home by the Cincinnati Reds this past weekend.

7) Cincinnati Reds

No team is as hot as the Reds right now, as they are coming off a three-game sweep in Houston. This team is looking like the favorite in the NL Central. The series against the Braves in Cincinnati will tell us a lot about this team.

6) Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers were swept by the Giants this past weekend.

5) Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles may have lower odds of making the postseason than the Brewers and Padres — yet they seem to have abandoned any computer predictions long ago. If they want to make any moves against the Rays this week, they can do that with two games at the Trop.

4) Arizona Diamondbacks

Corbin Carroll has the D-backs holding steady atop the NL West. They’ve got a funky week agead: three games in Milwaukee, then a makeup game on Thursday in Washington, and then three out in San Francisco. Arizona has been a pleasant surprise; this will be a big week for them.

3) Atlanta Braves

Atlanta had an easy schedule this week – three games in Detroit and three against Colorado at home — and managed to take care of business by winning five out of six and increasing their lead in the NL East.

2) Texas Rangers

The Rangers have already given fans plenty of exciting moments this season, and you can expect that Sunday’s victory over the Blue Jays will appear when looking back on all their best moments at the season’s end. After falling behind 6-0 early on, they outscored Toronto 11-1 over the remainder of the game to seal the victory and claim their series win – all thanks to Corey Seager, who is certainly living up to every dollar of his contract!
