Look Out MLB, the Red Sox are Rolling

Red Sox Rolling!

After a mediocre start (and premature callings for Farrell’s job), the Red Sox are finally hitting their stride, and winning in multiple ways.

It started on May 21st, when the Red Sox avoided a four game series sweep, courtesy of the Oakland Athletics. The Red Sox won that game, 12-3, and have not looked back.

In the past 22 games, the Red Sox have won 16 of those games, and have won back to back games walkoff-style.

“Let’s get on the road,” Benintendi said after his first career walk off hit. “We’ve played some long games on consecutive days, so I’m just trying to not overthink it.”

A key point in the game came when Red Sox reliever, Blaine Boyer, found himself in a bases loaded jam with 2 outs, during a 3-3 tie. With the game in jeopardy, Boyer delivered the high cheese on the 0-2 count to fan Phillies shortstop, Freddy Galvis. Boyer did not hold back his emotion, leaving the mound while pumping his fists in celebration.

That is the type of emotion that the Red Sox need to show more of, and have recently. The team seemed to be mismanaged early on in the season, when there were multiple clubhouse incidents that reflected poorly on the organization.

But as the cliché goes, ‘winning solves everything’. And winning close games? Well that’s just even better.

The Red Sox are still behind the Yankees in the division standings, only 3 games behind. With all the injuries they endured to begin the year, and as the roster finally gets healthier, look for this team to challenge their longtime rivals, and attempt to claim their second straight AL East title.
