
Oxford: Georgia edges out Ole Miss 3-2 on Friday night to take game one of the highly anticipated SEC series. Both teams came into the series ranked within in the top 15, with NCAA Tournament and SEC Tournament seeding in mind this series is a must-win for both squads.
Pitching was the name of the game on Friday night as Chase Adkins from Georgia and Ryan Rolison from Ole Miss squaredย off in a pitching duel that went in favor of the visiting Bulldogs. Chase Adkins went six innings, gave up four hits, one run, and struck out two batters. Ryan Rolison went seven innings, gave up seven hits, two runs, and six strikeouts.
With the loss, Ole Miss drops to 30-9 on the season and 8-8 in SEC play. Georgia improved to 27-11 on the season and 10-6 in SEC play.
Ole Miss and Georgia will play a doubleheader on Saturday with the first game at 1:30 and the second will be 45 minutes after the first. Coach Mike Bianco said, ” His team will be ready for the challenge on Saturday and they already anxious to get another shot at Georgia.”
