The right fielder for Oakland, Ramón Laureano, could be heard yelling in the dugout before the rally, giving what appeared to be an emotional speech. The first base umpire, Paul Emmel, tossed him out of the game in the middle of the seventh inning.

A critical hit by José Ramirez, followed by an impressive rush around the bases, helped erase the Athletics’ 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. A throwing error, an RBI groundout, a sacrifice fly, and a run-scoring bunt hit contributed to Cleveland’s four runs.
Vogt and Matt Davidson each single off Zach Plesac to start the sixth. First baseman Josh Naylor’s throwing blunder on Tony Kemp’s ground ball enabled the runner to score and cost the Guardians an out. Morgan (2-2) struck out.
Before Brown delivered the blow that silenced the stadium and caused Oakland’s players to leap from the dugout in celebration, Bethancourt’s infield hit with two outs kept the inning alive.
The play that Plesac made when he threw Cristian Pache out at first was the best one of the day. The slow roller that was hit to the right of the mound was caught by Plesac using only his bare hands.

Lowrie out of lineup, Karinchak on a rehab assignment
Jed Lowrie, the second baseman for the Athletics, was not in the lineup for the second consecutive game due to soreness in his wrist and shoulder.
Meanwhile, On Friday, right-handed Guardians pitcher James Karinchak participated in a rehab assignment due to a strained upper back at Triple-A Columbus. He struck out one in a scoreless inning in the assignment.
Cole Irvin, a left-handed pitcher for the Athletics with a 2-2 record and a 3.00 ERA, faced the Guardians at Oakland on April 30 and allowed one run over six innings.
